Yearning for Yoga

Economy got you down?  Feeling the after-stress from the holidays?  Starting to get spring fever?  Worried about down sizing at your job?  There are many reasons for people to be stressed right now.  These are hard times for most of us, and it seems like there is little time in the day to manage all of that stress.

Yoga is a wonderful way to manage stress.  Yoga is an ancient practice that creates a sense of union in body, mind, and spirit.  It also can bring much needed balance in your life.  The physical benefits of yoga practice includes toning, strength, and flexibility.  The psychological benefits of yoga includes disolving stress and anxiety by focusing on breathing, quieting the mind, positive thoughts, and self-acceptance.  Yoga is nondenominational and can bring spritual benefits, including patience, forgiveness, and awareness.  New research suggests that yoga can bring additional advantages such as disease prevention, improved sleep, increased blood circulation, pain management, healthy posture and much more.

Yoga doesn't have to be expensive either.  You don't have to attend a fancy yoga studio to do yoga, although it is a good idea to try some classes first with an instructor so that you learn the correct poses and prevent injury.  After trying some classes, you can buy yoga instructionals on DVD and do them in the comfort of your home.   You owe it to yourself to give it a try.
